079 – Letter to My Younger Self

  1. Write a letter to your younger self – share learnings, advice, reassurance, tips for the future.
  2. It may be helpful to establish an age (e.g. 5 years old). 
  3. Prompt sentences may be helpful: ‘this is what I have learnt’, ‘I know that times are hard now, but…’, ‘you wouldn’t believe this, but…’ 
  4. Depending on the group, it may be appropriate to share the letters.

 

Notes: This exercise works well with a group who is comfortable with each other and familiar with exploring autobiography. It can be a standalone exercise or a springboard to further devising tasks. To establish distance, it also works well as a way of developing character, imagining younger selves of stimulus characters.
