Version 1. A facilitator calls out a category, for example, “height”. Then, the group forms a line, from tall to short, without talking or hand gestures. In fact everyone must put their hands behind their backs.
Version 2. No category is called out. The group decides a category for themselves without talking or physical communication.
Possible categories are:
- Height (tallest to the shortest)
- Eye colour
- Month of birth (Oldest to youngest)
- Hair colour
- Nationality (closest to furthest away geographically)
This exercise explores different ways of communicating, other than oral and gestural communications that we rely on. It ensures participants explore alternative ways of expressing themselves and communicating with others.
